Zhang Linghe is reportedly experiencing a massive surge in commercial value following the explosive success of the historical drama Zhu Yu.
According to Chinese media outlet Up Media, the actor’s endorsement fees for luxury brands have now reached approximately 50 million RMB, representing a sixfold increase compared to last year.
The remarkable rise has reportedly positioned Zhang Linghe among the top new-generation stars in the Chinese entertainment industry.
Thanks to the popularity of Zhu Yu, both Zhang Linghe and co-star Tian Xiwei have seen dramatic increases in fame and industry demand.
In recent months, Zhang Linghe has frequently appeared in campaigns for Gucci and was even invited to attend fashion week events in New York, where he reportedly sat in the front row alongside other global celebrities.
Industry insiders also claim the actor recently secured a major eyewear endorsement deal previously associated with Xiao Zhan. Reports suggested the campaign generated tens of millions of RMB in sales within just one day.
Before the success of Zhu Yu, Zhang Linghe’s standard endorsement fee was reportedly around 8 million RMB. That figure has now increased to approximately 12 million RMB for ordinary commercial contracts.
For luxury fashion and beauty brands such as Lancôme and Gucci, however, the fees are believed to be significantly higher due to long-term ambassador responsibilities, event appearances, and image management requirements.
Interestingly, reports also revealed that Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei accepted relatively modest salaries while filming Zhu Yu because the production invested heavily in recreating authentic Song Dynasty scenery, costumes, and props.
At the time, Zhang Linghe reportedly earned approximately 3.5 million RMB for the project, while Tian Xiwei received around 3 million RMB.
However, the drama’s enormous success dramatically changed both actors’ commercial standing almost overnight.
Beyond his career achievements, Zhang Linghe’s personal hobbies and educational background have also attracted attention among fans.
Born in Jiangsu in 1997, Zhang Linghe originally dreamed of becoming an electrical engineer. He was admitted to Nanjing Normal University, where he studied Electrical Engineering and Automation before eventually entering the entertainment industry after being discovered by a talent agency.
The actor has previously shared that he approaches acting using a highly analytical mindset shaped by his engineering background.
According to Zhang Linghe, he studies characters similarly to solving technical problems or analyzing circuit systems, relying heavily on logic and patience to understand each role.
He also revealed during a recent interview that he enjoys reading books about machine structures and has recently developed a strong interest in photography — even disassembling cameras to study their internal components and technical specifications.
Fans online jokingly commented that even Zhang Linghe’s hobbies feel “exactly like something an engineering student would do.”
Since gaining widespread attention through Love Between Fairy and Devil in 2022, the actor has continued building his popularity with projects including My Journey to You, Story of Kunning Palace, and Love Me, Love My Voice.
