ZEROBASEONE Caught Up in Excessive Security Controversy at Airport

Another Incident of Excessive Airport Security for Idols

On the 18th, videos and photos showing ZEROBASEONE (hereafter ZB1) member Zhang Hao being accompanied by security personnel during his arrival at the airport were shared on social media.

The fan who posted the content expressed outrage, saying, “Do you think it’s appropriate for someone who claims to be an artist manager to mock a fan who was pushed and injured, and had their shoes taken off?” They added, “How can an artist manager point and ridicule someone in front of many people like that?”

According to the post, the victim, who was taking photos of Zhang Hao’s arrival, tried to avoid causing trouble for the fans and the artist. However, fans reported that security and managers pushed fans away, and that during the process, the manager used abusive language like “f***ed up” while pushing them hard. The victim emphasized that they and other fans who were not in the crowd were pushed aggressively, resulting in three people falling, including themselves. The victim’s knee was scraped, and their shoes were removed, with the manager allegedly mocking them repeatedly, even directing the ridicule at airport staff rather than the artist.

The victim expressed anger, saying, “How can someone who caused injury and had their shoes removed point fingers and mock the artist? I hope no one else has to experience what I did. I hope this post prevents the artist from getting bad publicity.”

Another fan pointed out that such incidents have frequently occurred not just at airports but also in everyday situations. They urged the company to take proactive measures to prevent such issues in the future.

Excessive security controversies involving idols and celebrities at airports are not new. Last May, a 30-year-old security guard for NCT Dream was sent to trial for pushing a female fan at Incheon Airport, causing rib fractures and a diagnosis of five weeks of recovery. In December, a security guard for the group Boy Next Door was involved in an incident at Qingdao Airport, where a female fan filming was pushed down, leading to an apology from the agency. On July 12th, actor Byeon Woo-seok’s security guard caused controversy at Incheon Airport by inspecting passengers’ tickets and controlling airport gates without authorization.

Most recently, on July 23rd, a fan of CRAVITY was assaulted by a security guard at the airport and diagnosed with a concussion, leading to further controversy.
