yu yanci dismissed from akb48 team tp

AKB48 Team TP’s Yu Yan-Ci has been officially removed from the group following several months of complete silence and inactivity. Her agency, Hao Yan Entertainment, confirmed her dismissal on January 5, 2026.

Yu first joined AKB48 Team TP – the Taiwanese sister group of the famed Japanese idol franchise as a trainee on August 22, 2024. She was later placed in the group’s subunit, Unit Peek A Boo. However, her time with the group came to an abrupt halt less than a year later.

On May 30, 2025, Yu shared a handwritten letter with fans, stating that she was stepping back from activities due to personal family issues. She asked for their patience and promised to return. But shortly after, she went completely off the radar disappearing from public appearances and ceasing all social media activity.

According to the agency, their last contact with Yu was on May 9, 2025. Since then, she has ignored all calls and messages, failed to show up for training, and missed scheduled performances and promotional events. Hao Yan Entertainment noted that this not only violated the terms of her contract but also led to significant financial and reputational losses for the company.

As a result, her contract was terminated, and the agency stated they are considering legal action to recover damages.

The sudden disappearance and prolonged silence have sparked concern among fans, many of whom are worried about Yu’s well-being and mental health. Speculation continues online about her whereabouts and condition, but no further details have been released.

Yu Yan-Ci’s removal comes shortly after another member of AKB48 Team TP was dismissed, highlighting a wave of instability within the group in recent months.
