A popular Korean fitness YouTuber with over 200,000 subscribers has publicly revealed that she was sexually assaulted by a taxi driver in 2024 — a shocking confession that has since moved millions online.

In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel on November 2, the creator — referred to as A — spoke out for the first time about the assault and her long battle with depression and trauma.

“It’s been eating away at me for over a year. I even had dark thoughts because of it,” she began tearfully. “On May 23, 2024, I took a taxi home while drunk. I fell asleep in the back seat and woke up to realize the driver had sexually assaulted me.”

She described the aftermath as a year and a half of living in darkness, saying she “cried 330 out of 365 days.”

“After the assault, my body broke down. I had to take antibiotics for nearly a year while moving between hospitals. Mentally, I suffered from panic attacks, seizures, anxiety, and depression. It felt like being trapped in a small box, unable to breathe.”

Despite her trauma, A continued creating content — known for her intense workouts and 20kg weight loss journey — though she admitted it was unbearable to “pretend to be cheerful” on camera.

“It was so painful pretending to be fine in front of the camera,” she confessed. “Why should I, the victim, have to hide? Why do I have to live with this shame when I did nothing wrong?”

The YouTuber explained that she decided to go public to reclaim her voice and encourage others in similar situations: “From now on, I won’t fake being happy. If I have a bad day, I’ll show that too. I want to show my real self — the process of healing.”

She also shared a heartfelt message to other victims: “I won’t hide anymore — not for myself, and not for those who are suffering in silence. I hope one day we can all say, ‘Yes, I was assaulted, but that’s okay. We’ll overcome this together.’”

Within 24 hours, her video surpassed 1.5 million views, drawing thousands of comments from viewers expressing empathy and admiration for her courage. Many also shared their own stories of surviving sexual violence, writing that her honesty gave them strength to speak out.

“You’re so brave. Thank you for sharing your pain and reminding us that victims are not to blame,” one comment read.

The YouTuber’s raw honesty has since ignited discussions about mental health, victim stigma, and public healing in South Korea’s online communities.

This emotional revelation marks a powerful moment in Korean social media, shedding light on the hidden pain many survivors endure — and the strength it takes to finally say, “I am not ashamed anymore.”
