On September 26, Pilseungjoo’s family shared the news of her death through social media. Pilseungjoo, who had around 70,000 subscribers, became widely known for documenting her journey with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) since 2022. Despite her gradual paralysis, she continued to connect with her viewers by sharing her trademark humor and positive outlook, offering hope and encouragement to others fighting the same disease.
Her final video, titled “Apple Juice Is Just an Excuse”, was uploaded on May 4 and created by a close friend. The comments section has since been flooded with messages of grief and sympathy, including, “Rest in peace,” “May you travel endlessly in heaven,” and “My heart breaks.”
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rare degenerative condition that selectively destroys motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord, gradually impairing muscle function and movement.
Pilseungjoo’s funeral is being held at the Hanil Hospital Funeral Hall, with the service scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on September 27. She will be laid to rest at Jinju City Anrak Park.
