ZIP Cinema, known for producing acclaimed works in Korean cinema, is set to launch its first-ever drama project partnering with Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin for the upcoming MBC series The Perfect Lie, scheduled to air in 2026.

Kakao Entertainment announced on December 11 that ZIP Cinema will be producing The Perfect Lie, marking the company’s official entry into drama production. With a portfolio that includes Jeon Woochi: The Taoist Wizard, Broker, and The Black Nun, the studio has long been recognized for its creative planning and strong storytelling across genres. The move into drama signals a significant expansion for the renowned film studio.

The Perfect Lie is described as a psychological thriller centered around a man and a woman who hold completely different versions of a shared memory. Their conflicting truths collide as they desperately pursue what they each believe is real. Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin will lead the drama reuniting 8 years after starring together in Dr. Romantic 1.

The series will be directed by Cho Young-min, known for his meticulous focus on emotional nuance in works such as Netflix’s You and Everything Else, The Interest of Love, and Do You Like Brahms? His involvement raises expectations for a tightly woven, emotionally charged narrative.

Anticipation is already high, with viewers eager to see the duo’s chemistry reignite after nearly a decade, now in a darker and more psychologically complex setting.
