Actor Yoo Seung Ho is officially returning to acting after a three-year hiatus, with SBS’s upcoming drama Flex X Cop 2 marking his highly anticipated comeback. The actor will take on the role of a brand-new chaebol character, adding fresh excitement to the series.
On July 2, SBS unveiled the first teaser for Flex X Cop 2, offering a glimpse of the bigger scale and heightened action awaiting viewers in the new season.
Premiering on August 7 at 9:50 p.m. KST, Flex X Cop 2 follows Agent Kim Reactivated in SBS’s Friday-Saturday lineup. The crime-action drama continues the story of third-generation chaebol detective Jin I Soo (played by Ahn Bo Hyun) and veteran detective Joo Hye Ra (played by Jung Eun Chae) as they take on increasingly sophisticated criminals through an upgraded partnership. The first season became a major success, reaching a peak viewership rating of 11% nationwide and building a loyal fanbase with its unique “chaebol-powered justice” concept.
The newly released teaser opens with Jin I Soo confidently declaring, “Shall we get started?” as he returns with even more extravagant investigative methods. Alongside Violent Crime Unit teammates Park Jun Young (Kang Sang Jun) and Choi Kyung Jin (Kim Shin Bi), he travels overseas on a private jet to hunt down criminals, immediately signaling that his signature “flex investigations” have become even more ambitious.
The preview continues to showcase I Soo’s limitless resources. Dressed in a tuxedo at a lavish party, he casually raises a toast before requesting a helicopter to pursue a serial killer. High-speed luxury car chases through city streets further highlight how his wealth remains an unconventional but effective weapon against crime.
The Violent Crime Unit also welcomes a major change with the arrival of a new team leader. Excited to greet the newcomer with a red carpet and bouquet, Jin I Soo is stunned when the new boss turns out to be Joo Hye Ra, his strict police academy instructor who once kept him constantly on edge. Wearing a police uniform and arriving on a motorcycle, Joo Hye Ra immediately demonstrates her authority by effortlessly throwing I Soo to the ground using martial arts techniques before confidently wielding her baton. Their dynamic promises a completely new chemistry as I Soo groans, “This is a nightmare,” only for Hye Ra to respond coldly, “No, this is reality.”
Meanwhile, the scale of the crimes also escalates dramatically. Bomb attacks and fires erupt across department stores, moving vehicles, and luxury party venues as an unknown figure delivers a chilling warning: “Inspector Jin, now the game begins.” Hye Ra’s ominous words “Someone is targeting you with the determination to kill you” hint at an even greater threat facing I Soo this season.
The biggest surprise, however, comes with Yoo Seung Ho’s first appearance. The actor makes his long-awaited return as Yoo Sung Won, a newly introduced chaebol character whose brief but commanding screen presence instantly captures attention.
