Comedian Kim Won Hoon appeared on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block on October 1, delivering laughter and heartfelt stories with his candid personality and quick wit.
During the show, host Yoo Jae Suk highlighted Kim’s growing popularity, noting that he ranked No.1 in non-drama buzz for three consecutive weeks. Kim, who once dreamed of becoming an actor, opened up about his journey from agency trainee to passing the highly competitive KBS comedian recruitment process, where only 8 out of 1,400 applicants succeeded. He also recalled struggling during his early career, with only two comedy skits over three years, before enduring a hiatus following the cancellation of Gag Concert.

Kim shared how his career took a turn when fellow comedian Jo Jin Se encouraged him to join YouTube. This led to the rise of Shortbox, which brought him renewed fame and recognition. He revealed that he thoroughly researches each guest and prepares ad-libs in advance, a habit that earned him the nickname “Honey Badger” for his fearless style in variety shows.
One of the most memorable moments he shared was about Yoo Jae Suk himself. Kim recounted how Yoo remembered his name and approached him first to greet him, leaving a deep impression. “When I have juniors, I want to be that kind of senior,” Kim said, adding that he now makes a point to call juniors by name and even gives them small gestures of support, like taxi fares or allowances.
Thanks to You Quiz, viewers saw a fuller picture of Kim Won Hoon’s resilience and charm. He recently starred as a superintendent in Office Workers Season 2 on Coupang Play and appeared on SBS’s My Turn. With his dynamic presence across multiple platforms, expectations are high for his future endeavors.
