Yoo Jae-suk, disrespectful attitude towards Korean President?… Controversy over political color sparked by “You Quiz”

While President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol appeared on “You Quiz on the Block” (You Quiz), the hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho were embroiled in controversy over their attitude.

President-elect Yoon appeared on tvN’s “You Quiz”, which aired on April 20th. After the broadcast, many articles criticizing the two hosts were posted on conservative online communities such as DC Inside and FM Korea.

First of all, the scene in which President-elect Yoon appeared was criticized. In line with President-elect Yoon’s appearance, You Quiz sent out a photo of the city where lightning strikes along with the caption saying “Unexpected surprise in an ordinary day that was repeated countless times”.

Yoo Jae-suk was also criticized for expressing his confusion towards President-elect Yoon’s appearance as he said, “To be honest, it’s burdensome. I’m quite bewildered. The atmosphere is extraordinary. It’s so strict.”

In addition, some conservative netizens pointed out that Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho showed no smiles throughout the broadcast. At the beginning of the recording, President-elect Yoon said, “I shouldn’t have come out.” This was a remark that gave a glimpse of the bad atmosphere on the set.

There were also many articles that speculated and concluded Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho’s political tendencies. In particular, Yoo Jae-suk was criticized for revealing his political color after visiting the polling place in blue clothes during the 2018 local elections.

Some even pointed out the direction of editing by the production team. According to the photos that President-elect Yoon posted on SNS shortly after the show, the atmosphere on the set was harmonious, but it was only heavy and dull on the original broadcast.

Meanwhile, President-elect Yoon appeared on a number of entertainment programs before the presidential election, including SBS’s “Master in the House”, TV Chosun’s “Huh Young-man’s Food Travel” and KBS2’s “Problem Child in House”.
