At the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards, held on December 29 at the MBC Media Center Public Hall in Sangam-dong, Yoo Jae Suk took home the Daesang—his 9th Grand Prize at MBC and 21st Daesang overall in his career.
Accepting the award, Yoo opened his speech with humor, saying, “I said the odds were 49%, but I should’ve said 51%.” He then expressed gratitude to his current Hangout with Yoo co-stars HaHa and Joo Woo Jae, acknowledging their teamwork throughout the year.
What drew particular attention, however, was Yoo Jae Suk’s decision to publicly mention former cast members who had left the program—especially Lee Yi Kyung, whose departure was surrounded by controversy.

“To Park Jin Joo, Lee Mi Joo, and Lee Yi Kyung, who were with us until this year—thank you for your hard work, and thank you,” Yoo Jae Suk said calmly.
Lee Yi Kyung previously stepped down from Hangout with Yoo after becoming embroiled in a private life controversy involving leaked messages and subsequent accusations. Following his exit, Lee Yi Kyung made public claims suggesting he was pressured by production staff and later sparked criticism by omitting Yoo Jae Suk’s name during another award speech. Despite this, Yoo Jae Suk’s inclusive remarks were widely interpreted as a gesture of professionalism and generosity.
Yoo Jae Suk continued by turning the spotlight to the production team, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the program. “ Because Hangout with Yoo changes every week, countless staff members work tirelessly—sometimes with just three days left before broadcast. Thanks to you, the show makes it to air,” he said.

He also addressed viewers directly, adding, “Your applause and support are what keep us going. It’s always an honor, and I’m truly grateful.”
Reflecting on his historic achievement, Yoo Jae Suk noted, “This is my ninth Daesang at MBC. I received my 20th Daesang last year at another network, and now this makes 21. The future is unknown, but I’ll keep trying—maybe even until 30.”
He concluded with a hopeful message for the coming year, quoting Hwasa’s lyrics: “Let’s say ‘good goodbye’ to all the bad things and welcome 2025 with good memories. You may not be happy every day, but I hope it’s a safe year filled with smiles.”
This year’s Daesang nominees included Jun Hyun Moo, Kian84, Jang Do Yeon, Kim Yeon Kyung, and Yoo Jae Suk. The ceremony was broadcast live on MBC and simultaneously aired in Japan via KNTV, with Jun Hyun Moo and Jang Do Yeon serving as hosts.
