Yoo Jae-seok reunited with the top star that he used to take great care of at Baeksang, proving their close friendship

National MC Yoo Jae-seok drew attention as he reunited with his best friend, who is also a top star, on the stage of the Baeksang Awards.

On the evening of May 6th, the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do. Yoo Jae-seok, who won the Grand Prize (Daesang) at Baeksang in the previous year, and Hong Jeong-do, Vice Chairman of the JoongAng Daily and JTBC, appeared as presenters for Daesang in the Television category.

Showing up in a white suit, Yoo Jae-seok greeted, “Hello, I’m comedian Yoo Jae-seok”. He continued, “It’s been a long time since I was able to stand in a place full of audience. This is so great since I can feel like I’m getting back my normal daily life, which has been lost due to the pandemic, little by little”.

Netflix’s “Squid Game”, which made a global hit last year, was announced to be the winner of Daesang. The lead actor Lee Jung-jae together with the “Squid Game” team went on the stage to receive the award. Seeing Yoo Jae-seok as the presenter, Lee Jung-jae smiled broadly.

The two then shared a tight hug and patted each other on the back, creating a warm and friendly scene.

Actor Lee Jung-jae and Yoo Jae-seok have been widely known in the entertainment industry as best friends with a strong friendship built since they served in the military together. Appearing on SBS’s “Healing Camp” in the past,  Lee Jung-jae was asked, “We heard Yoo Jae-seok helped you a lot?”. In response, the actor said, “During my military service period, he always woke me up when I was sleeping at home. He’s a really kind friend. He helped me a lot”. 

When Lee Jung-jae guested on “You Quiz on the Block” in January, Yoo Jae-seok also said, “I took really good care of Lee Jung-jae”, confirming their close friendship.
