Chinese social media has been in an uproar following a series of controversial statements made by Yi Yi Zi, a former idol and current entertainment blogger, who recently dragged G-DRAGON into an unexpected personal claim.
Yi Yi Zi, once active in the entertainment industry as a singer and actress, shocked netizens after publicly declaring that she had “almost become G-DRAGON’s girlfriend.” Her remarks, which included what she described as private and sensitive details, quickly went viral and sparked intense backlash across Chinese online communities.
In the widely circulated clip, Yi Yi Zi claimed that she once drank alcohol with G-DRAGON and mocked his alcohol tolerance, alleging that she had “gotten him completely drunk.” She went on to make even more provocative comments, saying that if he had not been passed out on the sofa, she “might have had to think carefully about choosing between T.O.P or G-DRAGON.” She further added that buying tickets to BIGBANG concerts now felt “regrettable” because of their so-called near-relationship.

These statements were immediately met with skepticism and anger from Chinese netizens. Many pointed out the lack of logic in her story, emphasizing that G-DRAGON is known to be closely guarded by security staff in both private and public settings. According to public opinion, the idea that an outsider could casually drink with him—let alone get him intoxicated—was seen as highly unrealistic.

A large number of netizens accused Yi Yi Zi of fabricating stories to gain attention, with some expressing concern that such claims could spill over into the Korean entertainment sphere and damage the already fragile reputation of Chinese showbiz abroad.
The controversy has also reignited discussions about Yi Yi Zi’s declining career. Born on November 8, 1987, under the real name Yi Qiulan, she previously promoted under the stage name Yi Di Zi. She began her career as a professional model and made it into the Top 300 nationwide on Super Girl 2009. She later debuted as a member of the multinational girl group i Me, which included Chinese, Thai, and Korean members.
Yi Yi Zi’s peak period came during her time with i Me. The group gained modest recognition with early-generation idol music, most notably the song Aishiteiru. However, after the group disbanded in 2013, her solo career failed to gain momentum. Her acting roles in dramas such as Love Through a Millennium and A Different Kind of Pretty Man (2014) were largely limited to supporting characters and did not leave a lasting impression.

As her presence in music and television faded, Yi Yi Zi gradually shifted her focus to social media, rebranding herself as an entertainment blogger. In recent years, she has repeatedly shared one-sided “insider stories” about celebrities, many of which lacked verification. One notable incident involved her claim that Dilraba Dilmurat had a boyfriend—an allegation that drew heavy criticism due to the absence of evidence.
Because of this pattern, Yi Yi Zi has increasingly been labeled by netizens as “a has-been celebrity addicted to gossiping online.” Her decision to invoke G-DRAGON, one of Asia’s most influential and globally recognized artists with an enormous fandom, is widely viewed as a move that further damaged her credibility and public image.

From a once-promising idol to a figure now remembered mainly for online controversies, Yi Yi Zi’s latest remarks have done little to revive her career. Instead, the so-called “almost dated G-DRAGON” narrative has become yet another example cited by critics as proof of how some former celebrities resort to sensational claims at any cost when relevance is long gone.
