Just by looking at the line-up for a weekly music show, netizens can guess the new relationship between Mnet, SM and YG.
On June 18th, weekly music show M!Countdown released a video of ATEEZ introducing the comeback stages of this week from Leo (VIXX), SF9, Stray Kids, 2 special stages “M Studio” from Park Kyung (Block B), Jooyoung, and especially Somi’s comeback stage.
What’s worth notice is that Somi will promote “BIRTHDAY” on M!Countdown for the first time after performing on 2 other weekly music stages Music Core and Inkigayo. Since 2017, YG has cut the bond between them and Mnet which led to their artists’ disappearance from the show.
Even though Somi is just an artist of a label under YG, but this new situation give the netizens a suspicion that this agency is trying to reunite with Mnet to fix the situation after B.I’s scandal and to bring to the audience a more positive image.
Different from YG, another big agency – SM – still refuses to reunite with Mnet. Yesung (Super Junior) and Red Velvet all have their comebacks this week but they have no promote schedule on M!Countdown. This agency has boycotted this broadcast station since August last year.
On June 18th, Yesung released his 3rd mini album “Pnk Magic” with an MV for the title track which has the appearance of his groupmates Donghae and Kyuhyun. Apart from the OSTs and collab songs, this will be his nexy solo album since “Spring Falling” in April 2017.
