On October 22, Yewon appeared in a video on the YouTube channel “The Roots Channel”. During the conversation with Shindong, she discussed the long-lasting impact of the event that once jeopardized her career.
Yewon revealed, “I once visited a fortune teller who told me that my destiny chart said I would become very famous and successful but also die young. They said the incident happened to prevent that outcome.” She was referring to the widely publicized conflict that occurred during the filming of MBC’s My Tutor Friend in 2015, where she and actress Lee Tae-im exchanged harsh words and curses, leading to public backlash and a halt in her activities.
As Shindong expressed surprise, Yewon elaborated, “Apparently, if I had gained too much fame and fortune too quickly, it would have shortened my life. My ancestors helped intervene by taking all of that away.” This prompted humorous remarks from the host like, “So those glaring eyes from back then were actually your ancestors’?” causing Yewon to laugh awkwardly.
Yewon debuted with Jewelry in 2011 and transitioned into acting after the group disbanded. Her candid reflection provides a new lens through which fans are reinterpreting a scandal that once dominated headlines and perhaps, as she now believes, changed the course of her life for the better.
