On October 22, Yesung took to social media, writing: “On a quiet afternoon, when sunlight seeps through the cracks in the door, it still feels like you’re wagging your tail in that light.”
In his emotional tribute, Yesung reflected on the gentle nature of Melo: “Our Melo, who was the kindest and most beautiful in the world. This house is still filled with your warmth, even without you. I didn’t even know you were sick because I was far away. Yet, you always smiled so brightly as you always did.“
He continued, sharing how deeply Melo had impacted his life: “I received far more love from you than I gave. Your short life filled my entire lifetime. Your warmth still lingers in the middle of my days.” He added, “Thank you for coming into my world. If we meet again someday, I’ll run to hug you first.“
Yesung also shared a glimpse of his grieving father, noting: “My father spent the most time with our dogs, and I can’t even begin to imagine how it must feel for a father to lose his daughter-like pet.“
Yesung has long been known for his deep love for animals. He once wrote a self-composed song dedicated to his pets and, in a 2023 variety show, described his dogs Kkoming and Melo as “like younger sisters” to him and “daughters” to his father. He even shared that while his parents didn’t visit his hospitalized sibling, they did visit Melo every day for a week when she was injured.
