“Wonderland” Tang Wei “IU, who wrote me a handwritten letter, is so sweet + She has such beautiful eyes”

During an interview related to the movie “Wonderland” (directed by Kim Tae-yong) held at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of June 3rd, Tang Wei talked about exchanging letters with IU. She said, “I’m slow to react to the feelings I experience on set. When I’m filming, I immerse myself in the performance, and it’s only later that the emotions from that time come to me.”

In February, Tang Wei appeared in the music video for “Shh..” from IU’s sixth mini-album. Following this, Tang Wei wrote and sent a letter to IU, and IU responded with a handwritten letter. This became known when IU posted photos of the letter on her Instagram with the caption, “Not long after the shoot, I received a letter and photos from senior Tang Wei.”

Tang Wei recalled, “It was the day before Lunar New Year, and the emotions I felt at that time suddenly hit me, so I decided to write a letter. Then IU wrote me a handwritten letter in return, which was very sweet. I also wore the black sweater she gifted me all winter; it was very warm. She has such beautiful eyes.”

“Wonderland” is a story about reuniting with a departed family member or lover via video call. The film is directed by Kim Tae-yong, known for “Family Ties” and “Late Autumn”.

In the film, Tang Wei plays Bai Li, a mother who uses the Wonderland service to hide her death from her young daughter.

“Wonderland” is set to be released on June 5th.
