On December 14, Han Ga Eul, a rookie actress and Won Bin’s niece, appeared on Lee Si Eon’s YouTube channel Si Eon’s School alongside Kian84 and Lee Guk Joo for a kimchi-making episode. As the group chatted, Kian84 brought up the topic many were curious about, asking Han Ga Eul whether her famous uncle was doing well these days. She answered simply and calmly, saying that he was doing fine.
Han Ga Eul made her debut in 2022 through singer Nam Young Joo’s music video Again, Dream and is currently signed with Story J Company, home to Seo In Guk. She also appeared this year in MBC’s Friday–Saturday drama To the Moon. She is the daughter of Won Bin’s older sister, making her his biological niece, a fact that previously drew public interest when it became known.
When asked whether constant questions about Won Bin felt bothersome, Han Ga Eul replied that she didn’t mind and that people actually don’t ask her that often. The conversation turned playful as Kian84 joked about inviting Won Bin onto his YouTube channel, attempting to recruit him through his niece. Lee Guk Joo, surprised to learn of the family connection, joked that she shouldn’t even feed Han Ga Eul garlic if Won Bin was her uncle, before humorously suggesting her own channel as a more comfortable option for a guest appearance.
Won Bin has not appeared in an acting project since the 2010 film The Man From Nowhere, stepping away from acting for nearly 15 years while remaining active in advertisements and occasionally resurfacing through rare photos. In 2015, he married fellow actress Lee Na Young in a small, private ceremony held in a green barley field in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province. The couple welcomed their son seven months later, who is now an elementary school student.
While Won Bin continues his long hiatus, Lee Na Young has steadily maintained her acting career with projects such as Beautiful Days (2018), Romance Is a Bonus Book (2019), One Day Off (2023), and the upcoming Honour (2026).
Public curiosity surrounding Won Bin surged again this past July when golf legend Park In Bee shared photos from a trip to Gyeongju featuring herself alongside Won Bin and Lee Na Young. Posting on social media, Park joked that it was the couple’s first public photo together in 10 years and wondered why she ended up in the middle. The image showed the famously private couple dressed casually while enjoying an art exhibition together.
With his niece casually confirming that he is doing well and rare sightings continuing to surface, Won Bin has once again earned his reputation as the entertainment industry’s ultimate “update icon”—even while remaining far from the screen.
