Girl group WJSN, which took a big turning point by winning “Queendom 2”, returned with the dreamy song “Last Sequence”.
On the afternoon of July 5th, WJSN held a meeting at Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Seoul to commemorate the release of their special single album “Sequence”.
“Sequence” is a special single album released 1 year and 4 months after “UNNATURAL” (March 2021). It is also a new album released after winning Mnet’s “Queendom 2”, which ended last month. On this day, WJSN said, “It’s been a while since we released an album. We’re so excited, and we worked hard to prepare, so we hope you like it.”
They confessed, “We gained confidence because we’re making a comeback after winning a survival program, but we also felt a lot of pressure while preparing for this album. Many people are looking forward to our performance. We prepared harder since this burden worked positively.”
The title track “Last Sequence” is a pop-style dance song that inherits WJSN’s splendid performance and overflowing passion. Its wild bass line, drum and synth clearly expressed the sense of summer season through the melody as well as WJSN members’ delicate and cool vocals.
Regarding “Sequence”, Exy introduced, “I think you can see it as an extension of our identity after ‘Queendom 2’. The message that we’ll make our passion shine when we’re the hottest and most beautiful is impressive.”
Explaining the title song “Last Sequence”, she said, “It’s is a song that expresses our passion to show ourselves with a new beginning when we are in our hottest and most beautiful time. You can listen to this cheerful pop dance song on hot summer days.”
“Winning ‘Queendom 2’ didn’t bring many changes to us”, Exy said. She added, “We’ve always worked hard to present perfect performances and to not disappoint our fans. To mention a slight difference, that can be the pressure that is greatly affected by good results. I did feel stressed out because of several big and small things but the result turned out to be pretty good so I believe pressure can lead to good results.”
In particular, Yeon-jung shared, “My mentality got stronger as we competed in “Queendom 2”. I think it was not just a competition but also a fight with myself. After the show, all the members became stronger. I used to have a weak mentality but I became more confident and cried less through each round of the competition.”
Eun-seo added, “I’ve been through many growing pains but I’m thinking more positive after we won. Through this promotion, we want to prove that the evaluation ‘WJSN has done so well and they deserves to win’ is correct.”
Soo-bin said, “It’s been 7 years since WJSN’s debut. I think this is the moment we shine the brightest, the time we receive the most love and can open a new act.”
Meanwhile, WJSN’s “Sequence” will be released on various music sites at 6 p.m today (July 5th). WJSN’s comeback show will be broadcast on Mnet from 7 p.m.
