Will BABYMONSTER Shine A Ray Of Light On The Chaotic Situation in YG With Their Debut?

BABYMONSTER is expected to save YG from the confusion caused by BLACKPINK’s contract issues

BABYMONSTER is the new girl group project that YG is launching after a long time since the debut of the global group BLACKPINK. Therefore, YG is working really hard on promoting the rookie group by releasing contents, such as a debut reality show and dance performance videos.

After overcoming the controversy related to his lawsuit in May, YG’s executive producer Yang Hyun-suk announced the debut of BABYMONSTER with 7 members, including 4 Koreans (Ahyeon, Haram, Rora), 2 Thais (Pharita, Chiquita) and 2 Japanese (Ruka, Asa). Forming a multinational girl group under its K-pop training system, YG aimed at the global music market from the beginning.

Receiving keen attention even before their official debut, BABYMONSTER has achieved various remarkable milestones on social media, such as YouTube, and is considered one of the most anticipated girl groups by foreign media outlets, such as Billboard, NME, etc.

However, their September debut plan eventually fell through. After changing the number of the debut lineup from 5 to 7 according to fans’ wishes, Yang Hyun-suk and YG officials raised high expectations for the group to make a grand debut this fall, specifically in September.

Right after getting acquitted of threatening charges, he has been pushing forward with BABYMONSTER’s debut project. Although the prosecution continued to demand a 3-year imprisonment in the appellate court following the first trial, with Han Seo-hee’s additional statements and her unwillingness to pursue punishment, there is a possibility of another acquittal in the second trial. As such, it is a positive sign for the success of BABYMONSTER’s debut plan. The sentencing date is set for November 8th.

In the meantime, YG confirmed BABYMONSTER’s debut in November and revealed BABYMONSTER’s music video filming schedule at the end of October. Throughout this time, YG has been conducting Song Camp several times for overseas producers and YG producers to work together and secured several high-quality tracks for BABYMONSTER. Revealing that they had selected a powerful song for BABYMONSTER’s debut, YG said, “We are carefully selecting the title song to bring the best result. We ask for your understanding that the debut will be later than September”, adding “Everything is ready. We will do our best so that the group can make their official debut in November”.

Attention is focused on whether YG will be able to reverse the chaotic situation of BLACKPINK’s contract issues with the debut of BABYMONSTER.
