What if BLACKPINK’s Jennie became the face of Gucci instead of Chanel?

Do you remember Jennie’s old nickname before she signed up as the official model and ambassador for Chanel?

Less than 3 years after debut, BLACKPINK’s Jennie was welcomed into the Chanel family as a Brand Ambassador. Over the years, Jennie has proved her rapid growth and impact in the fashion industry. Jennie began to be referred to as “Human Chanel” after BLACKPINK‘s So Hot performance in 2017, when she performed on stage in a classy and attractive black outfit with Chanel suspenders. However, before Chanel, Jennie once had a short but well-known connection with Gucci and was also called “Human Gucci”.

Jennie’s style and aura have been outstanding since she was only a rookie. As the 2nd girl group after 2NE1, YG obviously had high expectations for BLACKPINK, especially Jennie. Gucci items are not easy to wear, the brand’s patterns don’t just suit anybody, but Jennie looks good in every outfit from Gucci. The Gucci bow once worn by Jennie was even called “Jennie’s bow” and became an accessory trend for a while.

As time goes by, each person’s disposition changes, and so does Jennie. The immaturity of Jennie‘s appearance at that time resonated with her chic and trendy demeanor to constitute a unique and unmistakable Jennie, which people often describe as a “haughty cat”. It is also impossible to ignore the stylist team’s ingenious “cutting” skill, helping Jennie look taller than the rest of the members.

Becoming an ambassador of a prestigious global fashion brand with a history of more than one hundred years can be a golden milestone in Jennie‘s career. However, sticking to a brand too soon prevented Jennie from experimenting with other brands and styles. Anyway, her relatively short predestined relationship with Gucci implicitly proved rookie Jennie’s potential and predicted her bright future in the fashion industry. And the current reality has proven that what we predicted in the past has come true.
