During the interview, Jenna Ortega confessed that her relationship with social media “gets ugly”. In particular, she revealed that she would be taken to media training, something like “Disney 101”, and was told to post 3 times a day to build followers, engage, and promote her show.

According to Jenna Ortega, the first question she got asked during an audition or meeting would be, “How many followers do you have?”, and this is true even when auditioning for “Wednesday”

In response, Elle Fanning empathized, saying, “I didn’t get a part once because I didn’t have enough followers. They’re like, ‘You were great — but your numbers’.”

Jenna Ortega continued, “Social media, what it does to anyone our age, it’s such a comparing game. It influences bandwagon mentality. It’s very manipulative. After the show, I’m really nervous to post or even say anything on there or even be myself because I feel like… (it could be misinterpreted).”

The actress then explained that because she is naturally sarcastic or dry, it is easy for her to find herself in trouble.

“I want people to be able to get to know the people behind the camera and realize that people should never be put on a pedestal. And the more I’ve been exposed to the world, people prey on that and take advantage of that. They see your vulnerability and twist it in a way that you don’t always expect,” she said, shedding tears and adding, “It’s so strange.”

Finally, Jenna questioned, “It’s such a hard thing to balance. Because how do you be honest without jeopardizing your own health and safety? It’s very easy to feel almost out of control.”

On the other hand, Jenna Ortega gained huge popularity after appearing in the Netflix series “Wednesday”, which was released in November of 2022. Meanwhile, Elle Fanning has delivered outstanding performances in films such as “Maleficent” and “The Great”.

As of the moment, Jenna Ortega has over 40 million Instagram followers, while Elle Fanning has around 6 million.
