(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon has joined the lineup of artists who dissed MAMA right on the MAMA stage.
On the second day of the 2022 MAMA Awards held in Osaka, Japan, during (G)I-DLE’s performance, leader Soyeon heated up the atmosphere with her intense rap verse.
Notably, Soyeon did not hesitate to directly call out MAMA right on their stage. Soyeon’s rap lines specifically dissing MAMA were, “What award are you planning to give us this year, MAMA? You know who we are, the syndrome of the year. We reject made-up awards.”
She ended the verse with the lines, “I’m 25, young and rich. I’ve come this far by myself. Do you wonder how much I got? This will show you.. my bag”
The irony is that shortly after Soyeon’s diss, (G)I-DLE received a specially made award, the “Favorite Female Group” award.
In addition, Soyeon’s rap verse about MAMA handing out made-up awards so that every artist attending gets to receive something, also reminds netizens of the iconic diss lyrics of BIGBANG’s G-Dragon on the stage of the 2014 MAMA.
G-Dragon’s famous rap verse at the 2014 MAMA goes, “It’s been a year, MAMA. Because you prepare such a big award, you are generous at giving awards so your children don’t fight. I’m a grown-up now so I am full just by watching. Just feed the younger ones.”
