On August 24, Wang Yibo performed at the company concert of entertainment agency Yuehua in China.
Wang Yibo, who debuted as a K-pop star in the Korean-Chinese group UNIQ in 2014, is now focusing on his activities in China after being shot to stardom with a role in the hit TV drama “The Untamed”.
With his massive fandom, Wang Yibo has basically transformed the Yuehua company concert into his personal music show. However, even his fans are divided into fractions, leading to an intense conflict that escalated into a physical fight.
In particular, fans of Wang Yibo are mostly divided into only fans (who only support Wang Yibo and use green light sticks) and couple fans (who “ship” Wang Yibo with his co-star Xiao Zhan in “The Untamed” and use yellow light sticks).
This led to a “battle” between those holding the green and yellow light sticks, with fans throwing hands over whether the yellow or green light “dominates” at the show. The only fans even accused the couple fans of photoshopping to make them more dominant, and scathing words between the two groups of fans were all over the internet.
This conflict has even gone viral, reaching No.1 among hotsearch in China’s biggest SNS platform, Weibo.
On top of that, the fan fight was not limited to online spaces, as a physical fight also broke out at the concert venue. In fact, a video capturing the moment Wang Yibo’s only fan throwing fists at a couple fan, to the point of serious injuries, has been spreading all over the net.
Many netizens couldn’t help but shake their heads at the extremely violent fan culture among Wang Yibo’s fandom.
