The New Year’s Eve 2025 celebration hosted by Hunan TV on December 31 has come under fire for its organizational issues. The most infuriating incident involved the performance of Wang Yibo, where the singer-actor was hanged 50 meters in the air.

In particular, since Wang Yibo’s performance included various aerial moves, such as flips, the singer actor was fixed with safety cable. However, during the performance, netizens discovered that the cable on one side of Yibo was completely unlocked, which means the idol-actor was in danger of falling from a 50-meter height.
This oversight left the live audience and viewers across China in suspense, fearing a dangerous accident during Wang Yibo’s mid-air spins and maneuvers. Fortunately, his performance concluded without incident.
According to 163 News, the reason for the unlocked cable was that the event staff simply… forgot to lock it. The media outlet also reported that Wang Yibo himself had questioned the staff about their negligence, but shockingly, the responsible staff member didn’t apologize and instead responded indifferently, saying, “Oh, yes, I forgot”.
This incident has sparked outrage among the public, who are demanding an explanation from Hunan TV and severe disciplinary action against the staff responsible for Wang Yibo’s safety during the performance. It also became the top-ranking entertainment topic of the New Year.

Meanwhile, just hours before the event, the stage lift at Hunan TV’s venue malfunctioned and had to be temporarily repaired. In additionally, during a rehearsal the day prior, Victoria Song slipped on the slippery stage floor and injured her left arm, leaving her unable to fully move it during her official performance on December 31.
Additionally, Hunan TV faced criticism for allowing lip-syncing during the live broadcast, despite a ban by the National Radio and Television Administration. The controversy erupted when Chen Zheyuan forgot to hold his microphone while his part of the song was playing.
So far, Hunan TV has yet to respond to the string of incidents during the end-of-year music event.
