W Korea is facing even more criticism following its controversial “Love Your W 2025” breast cancer awareness event, with a recent Instagram post fanning the flames of public outrage.
The campaign, which was initially meant to promote breast cancer awareness and fundraising, has already been called out for turning into a celebrity-filled party that lacked substance. Netizens slammed the event for prioritizing glamor over the actual cause, pointing to the absence of educational messages, proper fundraising transparency, or even a symbolic nod to breast cancer—such as the pink ribbon.

Now, W Korea has sparked further backlash after posting a sponsored story on Instagram promoting the Dyson Super Sonic R hair dryer, tagging it with the same hashtags used for the breast cancer campaign: #LoveYourW2025 #BreastCancerAwarenessCampaign #DysonBeauty

The promotional post has been labeled tone-deaf and insensitive , particularly because hair loss is a common side effect of chemotherapy for breast cancer patients. Many netizens saw it as a painful reminder of the trauma associated with treatment.
Comments from online community Theqoo reflect the public’s growing anger:
“My friend went through chemo and lost all their hair… now what is this? It’s so frustrating.”
“I had to sell my Dyson after losing my hair. This is beyond tone-deaf.”
“What does a luxury hair dryer have to do with breast cancer awareness?”
Others questioned whether Dyson has made any meaningful donations to breast cancer-related causes or if the post was simply using a sensitive campaign to boost sales.

Despite the uproar, W Korea has yet to issue an apology or clarification . Critics are now calling for brands and media outlets to engage in more thoughtful and respectful campaigns when addressing serious health issues.
As the backlash intensifies, many believe W Korea’s credibility in hosting future advocacy campaigns may already be damaged beyond repair.
