A man known online as “Red Yang” has come forward as the first public victim of the Uncle Red scandal in Nanjing. The suspect, a 38‑year‑old man surnamed Jiao, gained notoriety under the alias “Uncle Red Nanjing”. He allegedly disguised himself as a woman online—wearing wigs, makeup, and feminine clothing—and lured victims through social media.
One victim, a 25‑year‑old nicknamed “Red Sun”, confirmed he had been secretly filmed during an intimate encounter at Jiao’s home. The private video was quickly disseminated online, causing widespread public exposure.
Online sleuths traced “Red Sun” via distinctive items from the clip—the black T-shirt with a bull logo, sunglasses, his hairstyle, physique, and footwear matched his social media profile and gym photos.
Facing a torrent of abusive messages and public scrutiny, he issued a plea: “I have reported it to the police. My life is a complete mess right now—I’m preparing to leave Nanjing and restart in another city.” He also revealed he had undergone comprehensive health tests, including screenings for HIV and syphilis, and implored, “I’m being tested! Please stop the hateful comments.” His IP location now indicates he resides in Beijing.
Police confirmed that Jiao is a non-local who moved to Nanjing and targeted victims via social platforms. He allegedly offered simple items—like peanut oil, fruit, or milk—to entice individuals into sexual encounters. The exact number of victims remains unverified.

Local authorities are continuing the investigation into the incident, which has sparked national concern due to the serious violation of privacy and the viral spread of illicit videos.
