TWS “Chart Manipulation Rumors Are False + Filing Lawsuits”

Rookie idol group TWS is struggling due to baseless rumors

On June 28th, TWS’s agency Pledis Entertainment expressed their anger over the allegations of chart manipulation and announced their plans for legal action.

TWS’s second mini-album “SUMMER BEAT”, released on June 24th, received positive responses on global album charts, ranking high in the iTunes “Top Albums” chart in 13 countries and regions, including Turkey, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan. However, continuous posts on various online communities accused the group of manipulating the charts, sparking a range of reactions from netizens.

Some netizens, agreeing with the accusations, commented, “It seems too sudden to climb the charts like that“, “Who is TWS?” and “The rankings seem unusually high.” However, there were also positive evaluations of their work and recognition, with comments like “TWS seems quite popular in China” and “The song was really good.

The unfounded rumors about chart manipulation following the release of their new song led Pledis Entertainment to announce legal action to protect the artists’ rights.

The agency emphasized, “We have conducted real-time monitoring to identify and document malicious posts and comments aimed at discrediting the artist with unsubstantiated rumors. In addition, we have filed complaints with an investigative agency based on fan reports.”

They added, “Among them is groundless rumor-mongering regarding TWS’s album and digital song sales, against which we are taking decisive action. Such posts and comments were included in our complaints as well. We would like to clarify once and for all that rumors regarding TWS’s album and digital song sales are not true.

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN’s younger brother group TWS debuted earlier this year and quickly gained popularity with their song “plot twist”.
