According to the Incheon District Court on October 18, 2025, the defendant, referred to as A, received an eight-month prison sentence with a two-year probation, along with 120 hours of community service for extortion.
The incident took place in February 2024, when A rented out a van to a popular female idol. After the vehicle was returned, A reviewed footage from the in-vehicle camera and discovered scenes of the idol engaging in intimate behavior with a male idol colleague in the backseat.

Rather than reporting the unauthorized footage or deleting it, A exploited it.
A then contacted the idol with a series of threatening messages:
“What were you doing in the backseat yesterday? That’s too much.”
“Even after I’ve said this much, you still won’t admit it. I’ve got no choice.”
“This van cost me 47 million won. Transfer half of that to me.”
Under fear and pressure, the victim transferred money on three separate occasions, totaling 9.79 million won. Despite receiving the payments, A continued the threats.
The court ruled that A’s actions constituted blackmail and abuse of personal information, considering the severity of the threats and the emotional distress inflicted upon the victim.
Many netizens have also begun speculating about the identity of the two idols involved in the footage, further fueling the controversy online.
