tvxqs max changmin cooking project

TVXQ’s member Max Changmin has recently made headlines by stepping into a new role as a “fan café owner” after largely disappearing from the broadcasting scene following his marriage.

Debuting with TVXQ in 2003 as part of the five-member group that would become one of K-pop’s most iconic second-generation idols, Changmin has consistently impressed fans with his wide vocal range and versatile performance skills. Even after the group restructured into a duo in 2009, Changmin and Yunho continued to dominate charts, particularly in Japan, and maintained their status as top artists for SM Entertainment.

In 2020, Changmin married a younger non-celebrity woman, and the couple welcomed their son in 2022. Since then, appearances on TV or variety programs have been sparse, limited to a few Japanese dramas and musicals.

Now, Changmin is taking fans by surprise with the launch of “Deokbapjip” on YouTube channel Saego F5. The concept is simple yet heartwarming: idols cook meals for fans as a token of appreciation. Changmin leads the project as the “café owner,” selecting and preparing dishes with care and inviting fellow idols to participate as guest chefs.

“People always say, ‘Can idols really cook for fans?’ But we do, with sincerity. We want to create meals and experiences fans will enjoy,” Changmin said, introducing the project and announcing that the café is hiring “idol employees” who share a love for fans, regardless of cooking skills.

The first episode, released on November 18, features NCT Dream members Jeno, Chenle, and Jisung as guest chefs. Together, they prepared a menu including stir-fried bok choy, Chinese-style cucumber salad, stir-fried pork with cabbage, and tomato egg stir-fry, collectively naming the meal set Shanghai Bapmans. The dishes were personally handed out to fans at Seoul Land, showcasing the idols’ direct interaction and dedication.

Fans have flooded the comments with excitement:

  • All my favorite idols in one place—Deokbapjip is amazing!
  • Changmin’s smooth hosting made it so fun. Congratulations on the opening!
  • My favorite idols cooking for us directly—Deokbapjip is the best!

Future episodes promise more idol guests, with FIFTY FIFTY’s Hana and Moon Channel scheduled to appear. Through Deokbapjip, Changmin continues to innovate in connecting with fans, blending his celebrity charm with hands-on, heartfelt experiences.
