It’s been a month and a half since the start of the Summer 2024 anime season.

Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Which Opening Theme Song from Summer 2024 Anime Do You Like?” During the survey period from August 5 to August 8, we received responses from 142 people. The gender ratio was approximately 40% male, 55% female, and 5% no answer, with a higher number of female respondents. The age groups were predominantly younger, with about 40% under 19 and 25% in their 20s. This article reveals the results for the OP themes.
1st place goes to “Oshi no Ko” (2nd Season). It received approximately 18% support.
The OP theme for the second season is “Fatal” by GEMN. Readers commented, “It was sensational that the mysterious artist GEMN was revealed to be a unit of Kento Nakajima and Tatsuya Kitani without being announced beforehand. The song and visuals match the setting of Tokyo Blade perfectly,” and “The rap rhythm is cool, and even when I’m not listening to it, it sticks in my head and repeats in my mind.” The song, as well as its promotion, has become a hot topic. “The OP theme of the first season, ‘Idol,’ was a huge hit, and this song feels like it matches that energy. The OP theme for this show is “Shika Iro Days” by Shikabu. Fans commented, “It’s a song that becomes addictive the more you listen to it!” and “The phrase ‘Shika no Ko no Koko Shitan Tan’ sticks in my head, and it feels like I might turn into a deer…”. 3rd place goes to “Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season.” It received approximately 13% support.
The OP theme for the episode “Nadeko Monogatari” is “Caramel Ribbon Cursetard” by Nadeko Sengoku (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) and Yotsugi Ononoki (voiced by Saori Hayami). Fans expressed, “The opening by the golden duo Nadeko and Yotsugi is amazing!” and “Hanazawa’s and Hayami’s soothing voices make me feel happy,” as well as “The cute song, cute visuals, and the extreme cuteness are rare in recent anime.” There were comments that it reminded them of the OP theme “Renai Circulation” from “Bakemonogatari,” with excitement that a new “Se~no” is now available in the Reiwa era.
