SBS’s “Today’s Webtoon” unveiled the script practice site of Kim Se-jeong, Choi Daniel, and Nam Yoon-soo.

SBS’ new Friday and Saturday drama “Today’s Webtoon” (scripted by Cho Ye-rang, directed by Lee Jae-eun, and produced by Kim Young-hwan) depicts the dynamic office life of the webtoon industry and the growth of a freshman webtoon editor who used to be a judo player. In an era where webtoons have become inseparable content, the drama tells the story of fierce daily lives of webtoon creators which have not known before, along with the struggle of new employees who are struggling to find a realistic workplace life.

At the script practice site held at SBS Tanhyeon Production Center in April, writer Cho Soo-won, director Kim Young-hwan, Cho Ye-rang, and Lee Jae-eun, as well as Kim Se-jeong, Choi Daniel, Nam Yoon-soo, Kim Gap-soo, Park Ho-san, Yang Hyun-min, Kang Rae-yeon, Do-kwon, Ha-ri, Ahn Tae-hwan, Son Dong-woon, and Nam Bo-ra attended. The script practice site opened with a greeting from director Cho Soo-won, saying, “I hope this will start in the blooming spring and bears fruit in autumn.” Kim Gap-soo then raised the mood on behalf of the entire actor by expressing his encouragement, “I will do my best to set an example as the oldest and make this a good work.” When the full-fledged practice began, all the actors were immersed in their characters and acted without fail, and the scene quickly turned into the life of a passionate webtoon editor, which is the background of “Today’s Webtoon”.

First of all, Kim Se-jeong plays the role of “On Ma-eum,” a new employee in the Neon webtoon editing department. Although she had to give up her dream of becoming a judo gold medalist, she challenges her second dream with the power of positivity with her unique lovely and lively energy. When she said playful lines, everyone on the scene burst into “real laughter“. This raises expectations for another growth in the acting of popular actor Kim Se-jeong, who has conquered different genres, including romance and even office dramas.

He proves his performance of an “All-Rounder,” who is back to the small screen for the first time in a while.

In addition, luxury supporting roles that raised viewers’ expectations also draw attention. Park Ho-san, who plays the editor-in-chief “Jang Man-cheol,” showed off his ability to digest his character as if he is actually a real veteran editor, not an actor. Huh Do-kwon plays Huh Kwan-young, who covets the position of Neon’s general director also clearly expressed his “ambitious character.” On top of that, Nam Bo-ra, who played the role of Jang Hye-mi, vice editor of Neon’s rival Youngtoon, also showed a clear presence. She has built her own character that no one can replace in the scenes where she exchanged short lines or showed her ambition in front of Neon webtoon editing staff.

Kim Se Jeong

After practicing the script, Kim Se-jeong said, “This is the first time we got together and practiced, and I’m nervous as if we have already started filming. Practice alone is so much fun that I think the actual filming site will be 100 times more fun than now,” she said, expressing her excitement. The production team of “Today’s Webtoon” has  prepared a warm story that anyone can fall into and enjoy, including young people who are wandering and worrying between dreams and reality, as well as office workers who are enduring and growing day by day. “Please look forward to how On Ma-eum will grow, where you can sympathize, cheer, and look back on your daily life without any overwhelming factors.
