Drawing attention due to the collaboration of Jang Seo-hee and the production team of “Ghost Station”, the new movie “Toxic Parents” is a new mystery reality horror psychological movie in which mother Hye-young (Jang Seo-hee) tracks the death of her daughter Yuri (Kang An-na) and faces a shocking truth.
Kang An-na was selected as an advertising model through DongA Otsuka’s model contest. She left a good impression on viewers with her performance as Jung Eun-hwa in Netflix’s 2022 series “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area”.
Making her screen debut through “Turn: The Street”, Kang An-na gained recognition as a promising star in Chungmuro by securing her first lead role in “Toxic Parents” after going through numerous auditions.
Kang An-na takes on the role of Hye-young’s daughter Yuri. Yuri is a model student loved by everyone and a good daughter to Hye-young on the outside, but inside, she is angry at her mother, who gives her a toxic love.
It is said that Kang An-na helped increase the tension of the movie by showcasing amazing mother-and-daughter chemistry with Jang Seo-hee and excellently digested various emotional changes of Yuri, from a bright teenage girl to a cold-hearted appearance when her feelings reach the peak in the confrontation with her mother.
Regarding Kang An-na, Jang Seo-hee poured compliments, saying “Yuri is not an easy character to portray. I was very worried for her but as I saw An-na gradually immersing herself in the scenes, I believe that she had perfectly completed her role Yuri”.
Explaining the casting of Kang An-na, “Toxic Parents” director shared, “After casting Jang Seo-hee for the mother role, I planned to find someone who has a similar image to play the daughter Yuri”, adding “Kang An-na was chosen through countless auditions and recommendations from fellow actors”.
