This model-turned-actress got her stage name inspired by her appearance with a chubby baby face 

Actress Esom will greet the viewers this year through various works, including Netflix’s new series “Delivery Driver”.

Actress Lee Som became famous after appearing in the movie “Scarlet Innocence” with Jung Woo-sung in 2014. Her real name is Lee So-young. However, it is said that during the time she was active as a model, the stage name “Esom” was given to her because of her chubby baby face that looked like a “cotton ball (som-moong-chi)”.

While working as a model, Esom, who had dreamed of becoming an actor since she was young, began her acting activities with the movie “Second Half” in 2010, then won Best New Actress at the Director’s Cut Awards for “Scarlet Innocence”.

In 2017, Esom gained huge love from the viewers after showing off a girl crush vibe by playing the role of Su-ji in tvN’s drama “Because This Is My First Life”. In the movie “Microhabitat”, she took on the female lead role Mi-so, who is homeless but has deep thoughts and great tastes. The actress received favorable reviews for her acting and earned a total of 3 acting awards, including Best Actress at the Wildflower Film Awards.

Esom was awarded Best Supporting Actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards for her performances in the movie “Samjin Company English Class” last year. In the same year, she also won Excellence Award for an Actress in Drama at the SBS Drama Awards for “Taxi Driver”, in which she played a confident and independent character and gained so much love.

Esom is busy filming Netflix’s new series “Delivery Driver” and the movie “Gil Bok-soon”, which are scheduled to be released this year. In “Delivery Driver”, she will play Seol-ah, a major in the Military Intelligence Agency. Meanwhile, she will appear as director of M.K. ent and confront Gil Bok-soon, the main character played by Jeon Do-yeon.
