She explained her reasons for participating, “I had been active as a new member in a group that symbolizes the crown. People say that those who wear the crown must bear the weight. It might have been a bit burdensome at that age, so I finally decided to take off the crown and shine as myself.”

She surprised everyone as she continued, “It’s been 9 months since I gave birth. I prepared for 1-2 months. It was tough. I thought it was a penalty, but thanks to my children, I could be more diligent. Overcoming the difficulties, I gave myself a chance in life to achieve better results.”

She then performed on stage as “Singer No.21”.

The true identity of “Singer No.21” was none other than former T-ara member Areum. She captured the judges’ attention with her overflowing confidence and dazzling performance.

Moreover, she showcased her skills with her slender figure and long limbs. However, she failed to advance to the next round due to an off-pitch during the performance.

The judges praised Areum’s performance.

Sunmi said, “She looks like an active idol. I thought she was cool because her earnestness, lingering affection and excitement were still palpable. It was a very skillful performance.”

Baek Ji-young commented, “Even though her body may not have fully recovered, her lively dancing, confident and audacious look in her eyes, and the atmosphere that made it seem like she wasn’t alone were impressive. Many mothers think they need to give up something for their dreams, but it was moving that she didn’t give up on anything.

Meanwhile, Areum joined T-ara as a new member in July 2012.

However, after 1 year, she announced her departure in July 2013, causing regrets.

Areum got married to a businessman in October 2019 and has 2 sons, one born in 2020 and the other in 2022.
