This Female Idol Debuted at Lightning Speed Thanks to Dance Skills But Finds Success as an Actress After The Group’s Disbandment

Former Gugudan member Jo Aram is showing her talents through her drama appearances.

Jo Aram, who debuted as Hyeyeon in the girl group Gugudan in 2016, was chosen to debut by her agency Jellyfish Entertainment after only 11 months of trainee life thanks to her outstanding dance skills. 

Despite the fact that other idols usually spend a basic of 5-6 years as trainees, Jo Aram debuted at lightning speed in less than a year and took on the role of a sub-vocalist.

When she was active as part of Gugudan, Jo Aram appeared on the variety show “Weekly Idol” with her fellow members and received great attention from the public when they attempted to cover a GFRIEND song.

In addition, Jo Aram showed off her impeccable dance skills by performing “PICK ME”. She danced alongside Gugudan members Sejeong, Nayoung, and Mina, who were contestants on Mnet’s survival show “Produce 101” season 1, but didn’t show any awkwardness. She also received praise for her solo dance cover to BTS’s “I NEED U” and EXO’s “Growl.”

She was a member with excellent dance skills enough to teach fellow member Sejeong, who finished second on “Produce 101”, how to dance ahead of her appearance on the dance competition variety show “Boom Shakalaka”, which aired during the Chuseok holiday.

However, in May 2018, about 2 years after her debut, it was announced that she would be suspending activities due to health problems.

5 months later, with the news that she would discontinue her activities with gugudan to focus on studying and recovering health, she left the team, which saddened fans.

In 2022, it was reported that Hyeyeon would start her acting career under her new stage name Jo A Ram. Shortly after, she appeared as “Al Ba”, a part-timer employee with 7 years of experience, in the drama “The Killer’s Shopping List.

She recently appeared as “Jeon So Ra” in the new drama “Doctor Cha”. Jeon So Ra is Jung Min (Song Ji Ho)’s girlfriend who is a third-year surgical resident.
