This 28-year-old male idol got called “grandpa” by a fangirl 7 years after his debut… His answer was unexpected

A famous idol group member who usually communicates with fans and shows a friendly appearance was shocked by a “fact attack” from a young fan.

On September 7th, Seventeen members conducted a live broadcast on Weverse to communicate with fans during their U.S concert tour.

During the live broadcast, Jeonghan read a fan’s question asking “What’s your favorite lunch menu at school?” and answered that he liked spaghetti the most.

Jeonghan, who is 28 years old this year, and Dino, who is 24 years old, began to bring up old memories of their school days and talked about school meals.

Jeonghan said, “When I was young. During my elementary days, I went to school every day”, adding “Now, you don’t have to go to school on Saturday, right?”. A fan who was listening to the live broadcast commented, “Grandpa, kids these days are off on Saturdays”.

Jeonghan, who debuted in 2015, celebrated his 7th debut anniversary this year. Since it has not been a long time since his debut, Jeonghan was quite shocked to hear the fan call him ‘grandpa’. However, he gave an unexpected reaction.

Upon seeing the word ‘grandpa’, Jeonghan boldly replied, “You guys can’t say things like ‘20 years ago…’, right? I can do that”. He added, “I entered elementary school 20 years ago”, giving a pleasant response.

Jeonghan and Dino then told stories of their middle and high school days that most people born in the 90s can relate to. Dino said the dusted off the blackboard eraser against the wall. This is something that young fans these days have never experienced because most schools in Korea are now using whiteboards.

The two continued to recall memories of the classrooms made of wooden floors that caused them to step on thorns. They also revealed the waxing experience they had while cleaning the wooden floors.

When a fan asked if they got physically punished when they were in school, Jeonghan said, “There were physical punishments in our days”.

In March 2011, the Ministry of Education revised the Enforcement Decree of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to partially ban physical punishments in schools. Jeonghan was 17 years old at that time.

Jeonghan said, “I heard you can dye your hair and go to school nowadays” and then confessed that he often had sudden hair checks when he was a student.

In the school where Jeonghan attended, sideburns should not come down under his ears. Accordingly, when he was told that there would be a hair check that day, he took out a scissor and hurriedly cut his hair.

When Jeonghan and Dino confessed that they were also normal students at that time although they have now become famous idols, fans born in the 90s, who are the same age as them, showed deep sympathy.

Meanwhile, Jeonghan and Dino’s group Seventeen recently completed the last show in North American, which are parts of “SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [BE THE SUN]” tour, on September 6th (local time).
