“The Red Sleeve” last episode: Yi San (Junho) and Sung Deok-im (Lee Se-young) promised an eternal love after closing their eyes
The last episodes of “The Red Sleeve” have recently ended.
The 16th and 17th episodes of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Red Sleeve” (written by Jung Hae-ri, directed by Jung Ji-in and Song Yeon-hwa) were aired on the evening of December 1st. These last two episodes ended with Yi San (Lee Jun-ho) and Sung Deok-im (Lee Se-young) enjoying the happy moments that they could only achieve eternity love when on the other side of their lives.
Yi San once again confessed his feelings to Deok-im, and this time Deok-im was moved by his sincerity. The two kissed and confirmed their love. Deok-im became King Jeongjo Yi San’s concubine.
After then, Deok-im got pregnant with their first child. Upon hearing the news, Yi San visited Deok-im early in the morning to celebrate her pregnancy. Then Deok-im gave birth to Prince Munhyo. However, a few years later, Prince Munhyo suddenly passed away at a very young age due to measles, leaving Yi San and Deok-im in pain and tears. After the death of her son, Deok-im continued to hear another heartbreaking news of her friend Younghee being sentenced to death because she is a court lady but got conceived secretly.
After back-to-back hurtful events, Deok-ím’s heath got worse. Before closing her eyes, she told Yi San, “Even if you encounter me in the next life, please pass by and pretend you don’t know me. I don’t hate you but I just want to live the way I want in the next life”, adding, “I would have run away at all cost if I really didn’t love you. It was my choice to stay by your side in the end.”
Many years later, although another person has become the new concubine, Yi San still couldn’t forget Deok-im. He went back to all the places of their memories and reminisced all of their good days. Yi San later received a box that stored Deok-im’s relics then shed tears.
Soon after then, Yi San closed his eyes at the last minute. When Yi San opened his eyes, the moment when he was lying on the lap of Deok-im and having just woken up from a nightmare unfolded. At that moment, Yi San acted differently from the past, and he smiled at Deok-im. The two enjoyed their eternal happiness on the other side of their lives, with Yi San conveying what he has always wanted to tell her.
