The reason behind the extreme popularity of Song Hye Kyo in China: all became of one action?

A post about Song Hye Kyo from 10 years ago suddenly became a hot topic among netizens.

Despite having made her debut almost 2 decades ago, Song Kye Kyo has never ceased to be a hot topic. Recently, an article from 10 years ago regarding this famous actress has been gaining attention again.

Said article explained the reason behind Song Hye Kyo’s extreme popularity in China, and pointed out how the actress earned huge amounts of money through her various commercial deals. However, instead of saving this fortune for personal use, Song Hye Kyo donated it all to build an elementary school in China. 

This move of the actress easily earned love from numerous Chinese netizens, and even when Song Hye Kyo was canceled in Korea due to her tax evasion scandal, China welcomed the actress with open arms. 

At the moment, Song Hye Kyo is preparing for her return project “The Glory”, which will air in the later half of 2022.  In “The Glory”, Song Hye Kyo will assume the role of the elementary school teacher Moon Dong Eun, who used to be relentlessly bullied in the past, and had to give up her dream of being an architect. 

Vengeful, she decided to pay back her past tormentors, and started out by becoming the teacher of her tormentor’s son. 

“The Glory” will be a reunion project between Song Hye Kyo and screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, after their collaboration in the 2016 hit “Descendents of The Sun”. The series, which will star rising actor Lee Do Hyun, is anticipated to revive Song Hye Kyo’s prestige after her not-so-successful K-dramas “Encounter” and “Now, We Are Breaking Up”.
