“The Queen’s Umbrella” unveils still cuts of actress Kim Hye-soo kneeling in the rain while wearing hanbok

Kim Hye-soo will return to the small screen for the first time in 20 years through the historical drama “The Queen’s Umbrella”

tvN’s drama “The Queen’s Umbrella” recently released several still cuts for the character Queen Hwa-ryeong played by actress Kim Hye-soo.

The released photos show Kim Hye-soo appearing in the costume of a queen in the Joseon Dynasty.

In the first still cut, she is seen staring at something with an ambiguous smile.

In another image, she shows an angry expression while heading somewhere. Meanwhile, the actress dressed as a court lady is trying to stop her.

The last photo reveals the scene where Kim Hye-soo, who is dressed in the normal costume of a noblewoman, kneels in the pouring rain.

Set in the Joseon Dynasty, “The Queen’s Umbrella” is a drama that depicts the story of Queen Hwa-ryeong jumping into the fierce royal education war for the sake of the princes. The drama will show the special education method of the royal family at that time and the royal mothers’ passion for education.

Queen Hwa-ryeong is the head of the internal affairs department of the Joseon Dynasty, and a middle-aged woman who raises troublemaker princes. She has a gentle smile and a calm mind, but she still shows an intense charisma and powerful presence of a mother.

Kim Hye-soo introduced Hwa-ryeong as “a person with a strong love power, someone who is willing to face the rain and wind to protect her loved ones from those who get in the way.”

She added, “Hwa-ryeong sticks to her principles, but she’s not old-fashioned. She’s more awake than anyone in that era. She is very intuitive, cautious, and acts more boldly and faster than anyone else. She can also be witty.”

The strong presence of Hwa-ryeong can be felt through the still cut where she stands in the rain with her son. Even when her body is wet from the heavy rainfall, she holds an umbrella for her young son.

“The Queen’s Umbrella” will premiere on tvN this October.
