The movie “Broker,” which has been receiving keen worldwide attention even before its release, topped the reservation rate the day before its release, signaling a box office success.
According to the Korean Film Council’s Korea Box-office Information System on Jun 8th, “Broker” topped the reservation rate with 40.4% as of 7:30 a.m (KST). “The Roundup” ranked second with 21.5% of the reservation rate.
“Broker” features an unexpected and special journey of those who have formed a relationship around a thing called the “Baby Box.” This movie is also drawing attention as many famous actors such as actors Song Kang-ho, Kang Dong-won, Bae Doo-na, Lee Ji-eun (IU), and Lee Ju-young participated.
In particular, the movie is directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, the Japanese master director, and contains a deep message about abortion, child abandonment, and a new type of family in this society. Earlier, the movie “Broker” received rave reviews at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival, when Song Kang-ho was the first Korean actor to win the “Best Actor” award.
