The film “The King’s Warden” has officially surpassed 14.44 million moviegoers, climbing to No. 3 on the all-time Korean box office chart.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on March 22 at 8:45 a.m., the movie recorded a cumulative audience of 14,447,740.
This figure exceeds the previous No. 3 record held by “Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds”, which drew 14.41 million viewers.

Currently, the top spot in Korea’s all-time box office rankings remains “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” with 17.61 million viewers, followed by “Extreme Job” in second place with 16.26 million.

Directed by Jang Hang-jun, “The King’s Warden” marks his first film to surpass 10 million viewers. The story follows the deposed King Danjong (played by Park Ji-hoon), who spends the final chapter of his life in exile in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, forming bonds with village chief Eom Heung-do (played by Yoo Hae-jin) and the local residents.

The film previously crossed the 10-million milestone on its 31st day of release , becoming the first Korean film in two years to achieve the feat since 2024 hits “Exhuma” and “The Roundup: Punishment.”
