On Sep 21st, episodes 1 and 2 of SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Judge from Hell” (written by Jo Yi-soo, directed by Park Jin-pyo, produced by Studio S) aired consecutively. The show captivated viewers for two hours with Park Shin-hye’s (as Kang Bit-na) dramatic transformation, Kim Jae-young’s (as Han Da-on) unique charm, and a refreshing, exhilarating storyline. As a result, episode 2 saw a sharp increase in viewership, recording 9.8% in the Seoul metropolitan area, with a peak of 10.4%, showing a significant rise compared to episode 1. In the 2049 (viewers aged 20~49) demographic, it achieved a 3% rating, making it the top show on Saturday, both overall and among miniseries.
The standout moment was the ending of episode 2, where Kang Bit-na stabs Han Da-on. After hearing Han Da-on’s drunken confession of having killed three people in the past, Kang Bit-na tries to send him to hell. Unaware of her demonic nature, Han Da-on is caught off guard and collapses in a pool of blood.
The intense performances by Park Shin-hye and Kim Jae-young amplified the shock of the scene. Park Shin-hye’s sudden shift to a murderous gaze and Kim Jae-young’s portrayal of pain left viewers in awe, resulting in explosive reactions following the broadcast.
