The interesting similarities between Song Joong Ki and Lee Jong Suk

Alongside being famous Korean actors, it turns out Song Joong Ki and Lee Jong Suk may be more similar than we think.

Lee Jong Suk and Song Joong Ki are completely different people, and yet they share many resemblances in terms of their careers. Below are some interesting similarities between these two star actors.

“Visual kings” that are also recognized for their talents

Due to both Lee Jong Suk and Song Joong Ki being high-regarded for their spectacular appearances, in many cases, their acting talents are undermined. In fact, both of these actors have shown their acting mastery on both the big and small screen, and proven their ability to pull off different images.

Furthermore, Lee Jong Suk and Song Joong Ki have also received critical acclaim.

In particular, at the age of 25, Lee Jong Suk received a Best Actor nomination at the 2014 Baeksang Arts Awards for his role in “I Can Hear Your Voice”. Later on when he was 27 years old, the actor was crowned the Grand Prize Daesang at the 2016 MBC Drama Awards with his appearance in “W: Two Worlds”.

Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki does not fall behind, with 2 Best Actor nominations at the Baeksang Arts Awards, 1 nomination at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, before winning the Grand Prize Daesang at the 2016 KBS Drama Awards after starring in the mega hit K-drama “Descendants Of The Sun”

Co-starred with Park Bo Young on the big screen

Another interesting similarity between the two actors is that they both worked together with famous actress Park Bo Young in cinematic works. In particular, Song Joong Ki was Park Bo Young’s on-screen partner in the 2012 movie “A Werewolf Boy”, while Lee Jong Suk became her co-star 2 years later in “Hot Young Bloods”.

While “A Werewolf Boy” is generally considered a greater success, one thing cannot be denied: both Lee Jong Suk and Song Joong Ki pulled off their roles spectacularly, and exuded intense chemistry with Park Bo Young.

Same management agency

Back in April 2022, Korean media sites reported that Lee Jong Suk’s agency A-MAN Project and Song Joong Ki’s agency HISTORY D&C have signed an affiliation contract, effectively joining the two. Just a month later, Lee Jong Suk surprised everyone as he was confirmed to become an artist under HISTORY D&C, similar to Song Joong Ki.

With both Song Joong Ki and Lee Jong Suk, HISTORY D&C promises to grow stronger in the future. Now that they are under the same management, fans are also hoping to see Song Joong Ki and Lee Jong Suk in the same frame to admire their top-notch visuals and aura.

Both portraying an anti-hero in their latest dramas

In tvN’s crime drama “Vincenzo” aired in early 2021, Song Joong Ki transformed into an Korean-Italian mafia lawyer, an anti-hero character who seeks revenge on those doing him dirty. Song Joong Ki’s excellent acting together with the engaging story of “Vincenzo” made the drama one of the small-screen hits in 2021 with the highest rating of 14.636%.

Thanks to his performance in “Vincenzo”, Song Joong Ki was nominated for Best Actor at the Baeksang Arts Awards 2021, Asia Contents Awards 2021 and won the Top Excellence Korean Actor at the 2021 Seoul International Drama Award.

In his highly-anticipated drama comeback this year, Lee Jong Suk also takes on the role of an anti-hero in MBC’s hard-boiled noir drama “Big Mouth”. He plays a failing lawyer with only 10% of winning rate who is suddenly framed as a genius con-artist. After being put into jail, he becomes more scheming to clear his name and protect his family.

Another coincidence is that both “Vincenzo” and “Big Mouth” star Kwak Dong Yeon. The rising actor plays a character with a close connection to the male leads portrayed by Song Joong Ki and Lee Jong Suk.
