Actress Hong Bi Ra mentioned Lee Do Hyun while disclosing various behind-the-scenes stories about “The Good Bad Mother”.
Hong Bi Ra played the role of Oh Ha Young, Lee Do Hyun’s fiancée in JTBC’s Wed-Thu drama “The Good Bad Mother”, which ended on June 8th.
“The Good Bad Mother” is a heartwarming healing comedy about Young Soon (Ra Mi Ran), who has no choice but to become a bad mother for the sake of her child, and her son Kang Ho (Lee Do Hyun), who returns as a 7-year-old kid after an unexpected accident, finding the happiness they’ve lost.
Hong Bi Ra took on the role of Oh Ha Young, Oh Tae Soo (Jung Woong In)’s daughter and Kang Ho’s fiancée. The actress left a deep impression on viewers with her portrayal of the character’s emotional developments throughout the drama. She convincingly expressed the sad narrative of Oh Ha Young through her emotional changes, from when she was an accomplice involved in the events related to the death of Kang Ho’s father to when she realized her mistakes and became a helper of Kang Ho.
In an interview after the drama ended, Hong Bi Ra talked about her chemistry with other actors and revealed several behind-the-scenes stories. The actress said she even wrote down the story of Ha Young and Kang Ho in an order that looks like a diary to prepare for her portrayal of Oh Ha Young.
Regarding her experience of working with Lee Do Hyun, who played her ex-fiancé in the drama, saying “Do Hyun oppa led me well. Before we acted, I asked him what I should do, and he said, ‘Do whatever that makes you feel comfortable. I can match your acting’. Thanks to him, I could feel that I received care”.
She continued, “I was so grateful that he tried to match my acting. And naturally, I relied on him a lot during the shoot”.
It is known that Lee Do Hyun put himself in an equal position with Hong Bi Ra on the set by saying “We’re only one year apart. I’m also someone who just started acting and there are still many things I need to learn. That’s why we should work together”.
In this regard, Hong Bi Ra said, “To me, he’s already a star. However, he tried to make me feel comfortable when working with him. When it came to acting, he often said, ‘If you have any ideas, just try them and I’ll give my opinions’. Then he followed and adjusted to my suggestions”, expressing her gratitude towards Lee Do Hyun.
When asked about Jung Woong In, who played her father in the drama, Hong Bi Ra said, “I received a lot of help in expressing the energy of a daughter who stands up against her father.”
The actress also expressed her affection for Ahn Eun Jin, saying, “Instead of calling me by my character’s name, she remembered and called me by my real name. She treated me comfortably and warmly like an older sister. I gained so much positive influence from her.”
Hong Bi Ra, who has been active for six years after her debut in 2018, successfully showcased her solid acting skills and impressed viewers with her performance in “The Good Bad Mother”. As a result, drama fans are raising high expectations for her next project.
