“The Golden Spoon” Yeonwoo “Bed kiss scene with Yook Sung-jae, I told my family to watch it… I reacted ‘Oh my!’ as I was surprised”

Actress Yeonwoo (26) said she was surprised that her bed kiss scene with BTOB Yook Sung-jae attracted attention.

On Nov 14th, Yeonwoo met Star News at 9ato Entertainment in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul for a wrap-up interview of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Golden Spoon” (written by Yoon Eun-kyung, Kim Eun-hee/directed by Song Hyun-wook, Lee Han-joon).

The Golden Spoon” is an adventure drama based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It depicts a life adventure of a child born in a poor family who changes fate with a friend who was born in a wealthy family through a golden spoon and becomes an acquired gold spoon.

Yeonwoo starred as Oh Yeo-jin, the incarnation of desire who has everything from appearance, wealth and brain but does not know satisfaction. After Yeo-jin found out that Lee Seung-cheon (played by Yook Sung-jae), who was poor, changed his life with the rich man Hwang Tae-yong (played by Lee Jong-won), she played the role of exposing the secret of the “golden spoon” to Na Joo-hee (played by Jung Chae-yeon).

In the ending of “The Golden Spoon”, after breaking up with Hwang Tae-yong, Yeo-jin married Park Jang-goon (played by Kim Kang-min), who had been by her side for many years. She gave birth to children and spent a peaceful life serving two fathers. However, Yeo-jin, who had a secret that she acquired a golden spoon, was implied that her daughter would be kidnapped by her biological father, so she paid a terrible price for using the golden spoon like Hwang Hyeon-do (played by Choi Won-young).

Yeonwoo, who usually said she liked Jung Chae-yeon, is called a “successful fan” after working with Jung Chae-yeon. She said with satisfaction, “We met together as our promotion period overlapped, and I had no choice but to become a fan. I started liking her while promoting. I wanted to be close to her personally. I think we became good friends as we spent time together on our birthdays.”

When asked how she felt about acting with Yook Sung Jae and Lee Jong Won, Yeonwoo said, “I was very careful because they are around my age. But I felt more comfortable during the filming. Our acting chemistry improved in the comfortable atmosphere of the second half of the filming process”.

In a making video of “The Golden Spoon”, when Yook Sung Jae asked, “How do you feel about filming the scene where you say goodbye to Tae Yong?”, Yeonwwoo said “I’m sad” and showed her teary eyes. Referring to her immersion in that scene, Yeonwoo shared, “It was the last stage of the filming. I acted with great regret. I watched a lot of dramas about partings and was only focusing on the script. I like talking with others, but at that time, I did not talk on purpose even when we ate together. Yook Sung Jae helped me a lot. I couldn’t shed a tear when taking the two-shot scene. He pulled everyone out so that I could cry in my solo shoot”.

Regarding the filming set of “The Golden Spoon” where many idol-turned-actors gathered, Yeonwoo smiled and said, “We kept wondering whether we saw each other somewhere, and there were more things for us to talk about. I also jokingly said, ‘Yook Sung Jae is a great senior’”.

When asked about the behind-the-scenes of her deep kiss scene with Yook Sung Jae, Yeonwoo said, “My face was about turn red”, adding “The kiss when we were lying on the bed was the last scene of that day, so we hurriedly filmed it. The director said the scene lacked something and told us to perform the kiss more urgently. I thought it would be better if we could express the feelings of adults. I was very nervous. I had a kiss scene in another work, but I didn’t know what to do with the kiss this time. I reacted ‘Oh my!’ as I was very surprised when watching the official broadcast. I couldn’t believe the responses on the next day would be that explosive. I also told my family to watch it”.

She continued, “I was afraid that people might give bad comments about me if I did kissing scenes or bed scenes. While doing this work, I think such worries have been solved. I believed it was an important and necessary scene, and I can do it without fear in the future”.

When asked if she had prepared to do work with more shocking exposure scenes, Yeonwoo said, “If I feel uncomfortable with it, I would adjust the scene to make it more appropriate then. There are possibly scenes like that in my future works, and I don’t think I need to be scared of them if they are necessary”
