“The Glory” writer Kim Eun Sook, “There will be no beautification for ‘leader of the bullies’ Lim Ji Yeon”
“The Glory” unveiled five characters subject to the revenge plan planned by Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) and the actors who played them.
Netflix series “The Glory” tells the story of a woman whose soul was broken due to the experience of school violence in her childhood carefully preparing desperate revenge with all her life and those who fall into the whirlwind.
Lim Ji Yeon plays Park Yeon Jin, who gave Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) a nightmare pain. Yeon Jin, who has been living a life without darkness from the moment she was born, owns an outstanding visual but ruthless personality. She was the leader of the team that committed harsh violence against Dong Eun.
During the casting, Lim Ji Yeon, who challenged a villain role for the first time, totally agreed when writer Kim Eun Sook said “There is no reason or beautification for Yeon Jin’s evil deeds and malice”. Accordingly, she immediately immersed herself in the character Yeon Jin and is expected to thrill the viewers with her performance.
The revenge designed by Dong Eun targets everyone who bullied her together with Yeon Jin. Jeon Jae Joon (Park Sung Hoon), Lee Sa Ra (Kim Hieora), Choi Hye Jung (Cha Joo Young), and Son Myung Oh (Kim Gun Woo) are characters who will contribute greatly to the revenge story of “The Glory”. All of them were school violence perpetrators who used violence without feeling guilty. However, the fact that they divided ranks even within the bully group shows their mean bare faces, creating a realistic picture of society.
Director Ahn Gil Ho also expressed his satisfaction with the actors’ performances, saying “They studied their characters more deeply than I thought”. While depicting Yeon Jin and her friends, who enjoyed group violence, with different personalities and circumstances, the director said he didn’t want to show any sympathy toward them. He added, “You can feel a sense of catharsis while watching the process of these people fighting and being destroyed”.
Meanwhile, Jung Ji So (as young Moon Dong Eun), Shin Ye Eun (as young Park Yeon Jin), Song Byung Geun (as young Jeon Jae Joon), Bae Kang Hee (as young Lee Sa Ra), Song Ji Woo (as young Choi Hye Jung) and Seo Woo Hyuk (as young Son Myung Oh) also plays active roles in describing the high school days of Dong Eun, the beginning of all tragedies. Director Ahn tried to find young actors with high synchronization rates with the actors who play the adult versions. As a result, all of them perfectly lived up to the director’s expectations. In particular, Song Hye Kyo even thanked Jung Ji So for playing young Dong Eun, saying “I cried while watching Dong Eun’s childhood”.
“The Glory” will premiere on December 30th.
