“The Glory” Part 2 paralyzed the Netflix server with its immense popularity

At 5PM (KST) on March 10th, the moment “The Glory” Part 2 was released, viewers who accessed the Netflix server faced a notification which said, “Something went wrong. Sorry, we’re having trouble with your request. You’ll find lots to explore on the home page”.

As a result, the video for “The Glory” Part 2 could not be accessed.

This corresponds to the Netflix Error “NSES-500”, which the OTT platform claims “is usually temporary”, and means that the Netflix website has stopped loading in the browser due to a server problem. In case of such an error, users can solve the problem by refreshing the page or reconnecting to Netflix.

Before the release of Part 2 of “The Glory”, many have voiced concerns that an error might occur on the Netflix server when episode 9 was released. Netflix had already tried to hold a “midterm event” with actors Park Sung Hoon, Jung Sung Il, Kim Hieora, Cha Joo Young, and Kim Gun Woo on March 3rd, but the event failed due to excessive traffic.

In response, Netflix apologized to viewers who experienced the server crash, and announced that a second event will be held until March 19th, with winners being contacted individually on March 22nd.

On the other hand, while the Error “NSES-500” only lasted for about a minute, it has explicitly proven the explosive popularity of “The Glory”. It is known that numerous viewers had to wait for access by logging in to Netflix with multiple devices, using their TV, mobile phone, laptop, etc.

Meanwhile, “The Glory” revolves around female lead Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), whose soul was shattered by the school violence she experienced as a child, as well as her meticulous revenge plan against those who have hurt her in the past.

Part 1 of “The Glory”, which was released on December 30th, 2022, gained hot popularity from global audiences due to its realistic portrayal of school violence and engaging revenge plan. As a result, “The Glory” ranked first in the non-English TV show category on Netflix’s weekly rankings in the first week of January, and spawned various memes.
