The actual ages of two actors in Netflix’s drama “Narco-Saints” gave the viewers goosebumps

The photo of actor Hyun Bong-sik, who appears in “Narco-Saints” as Ha Jung-woo’s friend, and a same-age actor recently became a hot topic.

Narco-Saints” is based on the true story of Jo Bong-haeng, who was arrested in Suriname, which is located in the northern part of South America, in 2009. The drama tells about an ordinary man who joined the NIS in catching Jeon Yo-hwan (Hwang Jung-min).

Director Yoon Jong-bin, who has dominated the film industry and cast a large number of leading actors in Chungmuro, such as Ha Jung-woo, Yoo Yeon-seok, Park Hae-soo, and Hwang Jung-min, drew attention even before the release of “Narco-Saints” because it was his first time challenging making a drama. In particular, Lee Sung-min and Taiwanese actor Chang Zhen increased the viewers’ satisfaction with their amazing performances playing supporting roles.

Along with the rising popularity of the work, interest in the cast actors is also increasing and the information that surprised many movie fans who watched the drama has been reported.

In fact, actor Hyun Bong-sik, who mostly plays old characters, and actor Yoo Yeon-seok are same-age friends as both were born in 1984.

On September 15th, Hyun Bong-sik uploaded a photo on his Instagram along with the caption “Cute Yoo Yeon-seok, who regretted saying ‘Oh, we’re friends’ after greeting me politely when we met on the filming set”.

The released photo shows Hyun Bong-sik and Yoo Yeon-seok taking a selfie. What drew laughter from fans is that the two actors boasted strangely different moods although they are same-age friends.

Apart from Yoo Yeon-seok, it is known that Hyun Bong-sik, who mainly takes on characters that are older than his age, is the same age as actors Lee Je-hoon, Ji Hyun-woo, Son Ho-joon, Lee Jun-hyuk, Park Eun-seok, Yoon Jong-hoon, etc. While other actors act as teenagers and characters in their 20s thanks to their youthful appearances, Hyun Bong-sik, on the contrary, plays characters in their 50s and 60s.

Ha Jung-woo, who also starred in “Narco-Saints”, is six years older than Hyun Bong-sik. In the recently released movie “Emergency Declaration”, Hyun Bong-sik appeared as a partner detective who came with Song Kang-ho, who is 17 years older than him. What’s interesting is that the viewers didn’t even recognize their age differences.

Hyun Bong-sik, who used to play judo when he was young, jumped into the front line of life as soon as he became an adult. However, he spent his 20s blaming himself for not being unemployed for more than three months. He was then introduced to work as a repair engineer for Samsung Electronics. While receiving training at Samsung Electronics, Hyun Bong-sik was suddenly attracted to acting when he found his talents during the class about responding to customers. However, he lived in despair because of the 100 million won debt of his family.

Thanks to the supportive words “Do whatever you want to do before you die” from his friend, Hyun Bong-sik challenged acting and made his debut in 2014 through the movie “The Pirates” at the age of 30.

After building his acting career from playing minor roles in short films, Hyun Bong-sik later starred in bigger projects, such as movies “1987”, “By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture”, dramas “The Ghost Detective”, “Hyena”, “Mouse”, “D.P”, “The Veil”, “Again My Life”, etc. He recently performed passionately in “Hansan: Rising Dragon” and “Emergency Declaration”.
