On September 1, Jiyeon posted a photo to her Instagram story without any caption. The image showed her posing next to someone whose silhouette appeared to be male at first glance. Upon closer look, the figure was identified as f(x)’s Amber, Jiyeon’s idol colleague.
Amber, known for maintaining a short haircut since her debut days, stood out among her groupmates who often favored long hairstyles. This is not the first time Jiyeon and Amber have been seen together; back in May, they were also spotted spending time together, highlighting their close friendship.
Meanwhile, Jiyeon’s personal life has drawn public attention over the past year. She married baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun in December 2022, but after persistent rumors of separation and divorce, the couple officially parted ways in October 2024. At the time, Jiyeon explained, “We mutually agreed to proceed with divorce mediation.”
Her legal representative, attorney Choi Yuna of Taesung Law Firm, stated, “Both parties could not overcome their differences and agreed to divorce after a period of separation, filing for mediation with the Seoul Family Court.” Hwang also confirmed, saying, “Due to irreconcilable differences, we decided to separate and agreed on a divorce. The application has been submitted to the Seoul Family Court, and we plan to conclude the process amicably through mediation.”
Now, nearly a year after her divorce, Jiyeon’s warm friendship with Amber has once again become a topic of interest among fans and netizens alike.
