Taeyang, “happy with Min Hyo Rin, sings creative children’s songs to 17-month-old son”

BIGBANG member Taeyang said his marriage with Min Hyo Rin and fatherhood changed his perspective on the world.

On the afternoon of April 24, Taeyang spoke about the changes he experienced through marriage and becoming a father at the listening event for his new solo mini-album, “Down to Earth”, which was held at the Hyundai Card Understage in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

Taeyang and Min Hyo Rin first met when they played a couple in Taeyang’s “Eyes, Nose, Lips” music video, which was released in 2014. After dating for about three years, they got married in February 2018. They welcomed a son in December 2021.

When asked if his musical direction changed after starting a family and having a child, Taeyang responded, “Not only my musical direction, but also my perspective on the world changed a lot. I am grateful for such beautiful changes. My wife and child brought about positive changes. I’ve had a happy and valuable time.”

Regarding his musical aspirations, Taeyang said, “In terms of musical values and tendencies, I think I use music as a tool to express many things that I have in my mind. As an artist, when I talk about my musical ambitions, I always emphasize sincerity. I believe that now, beyond musical sincerity, sincerity must be embedded in my life, and only by living such a life can I have a good influence on my child and build a good family. I am extremely happy these days.”

As one of the best vocalists in South Korea, Taeyang was asked what kind of lullabies he sang to his children. To this, the BIGBANG member responded, “Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever sung a lullaby. I’ve sung many creative children’s songs that my child likes at the moment. Recently, he has been enjoying ‘All are Flowers’ (literal translation) and a snail song.”

When asked about the most adorable moments of his child, Taeyang replied, “It’s hard to choose. He looks so lovely when he’s asleep, and just as lovely when he wakes up. He just turned 17 months old and has started saying one word at a time. Recently, he has been saying ‘strawberry’ and ‘crocodile’. It’s amazing and joyful when he suddenly shows a side of himself I haven’t seen before.”

Meanwhile, Taeyang’s new album “Down to Earth” will be released on various music sites at 6 PM on April 25 (KST). The title track, “Seed”, is a sentimental ballad that captures Taeyang’s unique sensibility through lyrical lyrics and melody development.
